Teddy Bear
This piece was a strike against my tendency to use no background in my works. I made it so that the variation of the complementary colours red and green (in light bubblegum pinks and pale lime green) were apparent, as well as the warm homey yellows and browns. This was an attempt at a calming, homey piece, and I believe I succeeded.
This was done by sketching first on paper, then sketching on the watercolour paper, then erasing the first sketch and drawing the lineart in dim pencil, before sgraffitoing the wood texture on the desk, and then painting the piece. I then went over the pencil lines in pen. This was done last to prevent the ink smudging.
The final product reminded me, however unfortunately, of the importance of balance due to the asymmetrical face. In the present, I strive to not make simple mistakes that can ruin the balance of the work due only to an oversight.
