4. Action

The grand finale of my painting and mixed media pieces, this was my funniest and most challenging piece. At this point in time I was having many financial issues and due to this didn’t have enough materials to make this comfortably. I had no white paint, no glue, and barely any blues. I had to use paint to stick the collage down and gold paint to lighten the corresponding areas.

It’s meant to represent the fauxness of how we as a society present nature, taking beautiful pictures of scenic landscapes in one area while burning down another.

This piece, the largest sculpture I submitted, is meant to be a functional vase. The straw at the front is symbolically transforming pure water into smoke
